The Tipton

The TIPTON & COSELEY is the first UK building society to launch a new savings distribution channel through their mobile app. The Tipton, as it is widely known, may not be the largest lender but that was no obstacle to them being forward thinking in how they help and support their members.
The use of the app is to provide new customers and existing members the ability to open, view and manage savings accounts on the go, whilst mortgage borrowers can view their balance too. This new app hosts a wide range of functionality including the transfer of money in and out of their Society accounts via a nominated bank account.
Many smaller societies rely mainly on in-branch services or postal deposits as they don’t have the technical infrastructure to support other methods. The app is a significant investment in technology by the Society designed to provide flexibility and convenience for its members, as well as attract new savers who like the use of technology combined with the more personal service of a Building Society. The Tipton has worked in partnership with Consectus providing the technology to deliver the Society’s desired customer experience.
Mark Schofield, the Tipton’s Operations Manager said: “Creating a new distribution channel for customers has been very exciting. It is a major investment and a key piece of our digital strategy. We recognised the necessity to meet our changing customer needs, many of whom want the ability to open and access their accounts from anywhere in the UK. The app provides this and makes it easy to do business with us.
