Iress and Consecutus Create RPA Core Banking Integration for Darlington Building Society

13 March 2023

Iress and Consecutus RPA Integration

Iress and Consecutus today announced they have successfully created a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) integration between the Iress MSO mortgage platform and Darlington Building Society's core banking system, eliminating a time-consuming manual data re-entry process that had become a bottleneck as lending volumes grew.

Darlington Building Society had been manually re-entering mortgage application data from Iress's MSO software into their core banking platform. As the Society's lending volumes increased, this manual process became unsustainable — prone to errors, slow, and placing unnecessary burden on operations staff. The need for a smarter, scalable solution was clear.

The RPA tool built by Consecutus automates the transfer of data between the two systems, acting as a bridge where direct core banking APIs are not available. The solution significantly reduces manual entry errors and cuts processing time, while remaining fully customisable for other lenders using different core banking platforms.

"The solution we've created in partnership with Consecutus has saved Darlington considerable time and cost. What's particularly exciting is that this solution is easily transferable to other lenders and banking systems, meaning the benefits can be felt across the wider market."

For Darlington Building Society, the integration means that staff no longer need to switch between systems and manually copy data. Instead, the RPA solution handles the full data transfer automatically, allowing the mortgage team to focus on customer service and decision-making rather than administrative tasks.

"This solution means we're able to see the benefits of mortgage technology investments benefit all staff in the end-to-end mortgage journey. It's a great example of smart automation making a real difference to our people and to the speed at which we can serve our members."

Chris Hunter Chief Operating Officer, Darlington Building Society

The RPA integration is built on Consecutus's established automation platform, which has been designed specifically for the financial services sector. It requires no changes to either the Iress MSO system or the Society's core banking platform, making deployment fast and low-risk.

"The RPA solution means that Darlington can scale their mortgage business effectively and efficiently through automation. We built this to be robust, accurate, and easy to maintain — and we're confident it can be replicated for other lenders facing the same challenge."

The collaboration between Iress, Consecutus, and Darlington Building Society demonstrates how fintech partnerships can deliver practical, high-impact automation for mutual lenders — without requiring large-scale IT transformation programmes.
