Tipton & Coseley Building Society Launch Mobile App

13 March 2023

Tipton & Coseley Building Society Mobile App

Tipton & Coseley Building Society has unveiled a new mobile banking application, built in partnership with Consecutus, positioning the Society as one of the first UK building societies to enable entirely new customers to complete their onboarding journey through an app — from account opening to activation — without ever visiting a branch.

The launch represents a significant milestone in Tipton & Coseley's digital strategy and reflects the broader shift in member expectations across the mutual sector. Customers increasingly expect to manage their finances on the go, and the Society recognised that a mobile channel was no longer optional — it was essential to remaining competitive and accessible.

What the app enables

The mobile application gives both new and existing members a comprehensive set of account management tools directly from their smartphone. Key features include:

  • Opening, viewing, and managing savings accounts remotely
  • Accessing mortgage account balances at any time
  • Viewing branch-based savings accounts alongside digital ones
  • Transferring funds via nominated bank accounts

For new customers, the ability to open a savings account entirely through the app — without requiring a branch visit or paper forms — is a genuine first for the Society and a significant step forward in how UK building societies are approaching digital distribution.

"Creating a new distribution channel for the Society has been very exciting. It is a major investment and a key piece of our digital strategy. The app allows us to reach members who prefer to manage their finances digitally, and it opens up the Society to a new generation of savers."

Technology partnership with Consecutus

The app was developed using Consecutus's Mobile Banking App platform, which has been purpose-built for smaller building societies and mutual lenders. The platform is designed to be both flexible and compliant with the regulatory requirements of UK financial services, allowing societies to go to market quickly without compromising on security or customer experience.

Unlike off-the-shelf banking apps, the Consecutus platform is tailored to the specific workflows and product structures of building societies — including savings products, mortgage accounts, and branch-integrated services. This means members get an experience that reflects how the Society actually operates, rather than a generic banking interface.

"The launch of the mobile app is a fantastic achievement for the Society and will enable them to deliver even better service to their members. We're proud to have built a platform that is genuinely designed for building societies — not just adapted from a retail banking product."

Paul D'Ambra CEO, Consecutus

Availability

The Tipton & Coseley mobile app is available to download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Existing members can log in using their current account credentials, while new customers can complete the full account opening process within the app.

The app launch follows a period of investment by the Society in its digital infrastructure and is part of a wider programme to ensure Tipton & Coseley can continue to serve its members effectively in a rapidly evolving financial services landscape.
